The stakeholders and experts have said the UN climate conference, COP-27, held in Sharm el Sheikh city of Egypt from November 6 to November 18 has been successful in term of national and international significance for Nepal.
At a program organized by the Ministry of Forest and Environment on 'COP-27: Achievements and Way Forward' in the federal capital on Monday, they claimed that the agenda raised by Nepal government were recognized at the event. The government and non-government officials expressed such view at the programme chaired by Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen, Uma Regmi.
Chairman of the sustainable development committee of the National Assembly, Prakash Panth, viewed all sides concerned should work in unison to implement the achievements made in the conference. He vowed to try his best to remove any policy level problem.
Member of the National Planning Commission, Saloni Pradhan Singh, also said Nepal actively participated in the COP-27.
Secretary at the ministry, Dr Pem Narayan Kandel, claimed that Nepal had achievements in the agenda raised at the global event as compensation of climate change induced loss and damage, increase in assistance for adaptation, reduction of carbon emission, and mountain problems.
According to Kewal Prasad Bhandari, Secretary at the National Planning Commission, time has come for implementation of the agreement and achievements by segregating the issues.
