Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma said preparation was afoot to streamline all statistics and information at local levels across the country from a single software.
At a meeting with Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah at her office on Sunday, Minister Sharma, also Spokesperson of government, shared, "Since the government statistics were unsafe due to different data centers, the incumbent government is trying to integrate them and operate via the Integrated Data Centre."
Furthermore, Sharma informed us that preparation was underway to provide all services from a single cable by getting rid of the unmanaged cables in street. She also urged the local levels to launch digital literacy campaigns at the local level.
Her ministry was going to amend the Telecommunications Act to deliver on that, she said. According to her, a prompt rescue team would be formed to operate post-disaster rescue operations for which legal provisions have been put in place.
During the meeting, Mayor Shah requested Minister Sharma to consider introducing a registration system for social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok among others in Nepal.
