Santoshi Shrestha, a Nepali runner, has succeeded in setting a new national record for Nepal in the 10 km world class race held in Germany.
Santoshi Shrestha, who got the opportunity to participate in the 75th edition of the Fatherburn Easter Run in Germany through Global Sports Communication in the Netherlands, achieved the 14th place by crossing the 10 km distance in 34:31 and also set the national best time of Nepal.
Earlier, Nepal's national record time in 10,000m (track race) was 35:03. In the 10 km (road race), Santoshi set the national best time.
The best runners from different countries including Ethiopia, Kenya participated in that race.
This competition is an IAAF and AIMS certified competition which has been held for 75 years in the western German city of Paderborn.
Santoshi is the second athlete in Asia and the first in South Asia to receive a fellowship from Global Sports Communication, the world's leading organization of athletics based in the Netherlands. Under the fellowship, she was training in Ethiopia last month. She is currently in the Netherlands during her training as she is preparing for the Asian Games.
