Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that the International Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium in Rampur, Chitwan is coming under the responsibility of the government.
Inaugurating the second National Women's League Football Tournament organized by the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) here today, President Dahal said that the construction work of the stadium would move forward. He said, “Now the stadium is going under the responsibility of the government and the state. I am committed to helping you move forward".
Work on the stadium has been halted after the Dhurmush-Suntali Foundation withdrew. Chairman Dahal said that it was necessary to build an international-level football ground. He expressed his commitment to take initiative to arrange a budget for the concerned ministry to build an international level covered hall in the district. Chief of Bharatpur Municipal Corporation Renu Dahal, ANFA President Karmachhiring Sherpa, Central Member Pema Lama, and others spoke on the occasion. Eight teams including three departmental teams are participating in the competition. The games of the first phase of the competition will be conducted till April 12.
The second-round match will be played in Biratnagar, Morang. The winner of the competition will get Rs 2 million, the second-place winner will get Rs 1 million, the third-place winner will get Rs 500,000 and the fourth-place team will get Rs 300,000.
