Inter Milan has appointed Simone Inzaghi as their new head coach on Thursday, days after Antonio Conte stepped down.
Conte, 51, who helped Inter win the Scudetto in the season that just ended, decided to part ways with the Nerazzurri as the 51-year-old reportedly opposed the intention of the newly crowned champions to cut investment due to financial difficulties.
As a legend striker from Lazio, Inzaghi spent most of his career in the Biancocelesti as a player and took the coach role in the youth academy of the Aquile since 2010, before stepping into the senior squad in 2016. His original contract with the Aquile was due to expire on June 30.
According to Italian media outlets, both had agreed on an oral extension, but 45-year-old changed his mind after Inter's invitation. Lazio then confirmed Simone's departure in a brief statement.
Inzaghi has signed a two-year deal with the Nerazzurri.
