In the match of group 'P', Hat Nguyen of Ireland, who is ranked 43rd in the world, defeated Prince in straight sets 21-7 and 21-5. It took Nguyen 35 minutes to turn the result in his favor. Having won the first set in 17 minutes, Nguyen took 18 minutes to win the second set.
This is Nguyen's second consecutive participation in the Olympics. He also played Tokyo Olympics 2020.
This is the second defeat of Prince, who is ranked 172 in the world. In the first match of the group stage, former junior number one Prince lost in straight sets 21-8 and 21-6 to Denmark's Viktor Axelsen, who is ranked in the top 2 of the world rankings.
In the final match of the group stage, Prince will compete with Israel's Misa Zilberman, ranked 58th in the world, on Wednesday. Group 'P', which is considered difficult, has 4 players including Prince.
Badminton is the 'debut' sport for Nepal in the Olympics. Since the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, Nepal has participated in Badminton for the first time.
