Prince Dahal tops world junior badminton

By making history in badminton, Nepal's Prince Dahal has risen to the top position in the world badminton junior rankings. The 19-year-old Dahal has climbed to the top spot for the first time in the men's junior rankings released by the World Badminton Federation. He has 10 thousand five hundred points.

Justin Hoh of Malaysia is in the second preference for junior according to the preference issued by the federation. He has nine thousand five hundred and ninety points. Similarly, Malaysia's Fajrik Mohammad Rajif is in the third place with 6,925 points. Alex Lanir of France is fourth with 6,700 points and India's S Shankar Muthusami Subramaniam is fifth with 6,340 points.

After becoming the top player in the world's junior badminton team, Dahal told RSS that his dream has come true. He said that he was playing with the aim of becoming the number one player in the world and he was very happy when it was completed. Stating that the focus now will be on maintaining the preference, Dahal said that he will continue to perform well in the senior badminton competitions in the future.

Dahal complains that there is a lack of competition in Nepal and it is difficult to get good training. He said that the state should create a conducive environment for the players. Dahal says that he has been deprived of competition and training for a long time due to the Corona epidemic. Dahal, who started playing badminton from Darchula at the age of five, is currently studying in Kathmandu.

This is the biggest success that Nepali junior player Dahal has got so far. Dahal's uncle and manager Kamlesh Niraula is of the opinion that it is a significant achievement for the individual and the country. Badminton coach Jayant Shrestha said that Dahal's success encouraged other Nepali badminton players. According to Shrestha, Dahal's success has made the entire sports world of Nepal excited.

Dahal is not currently affiliated with any departmental club. He has been playing badminton from far western states. Dahal was ranked 32nd for the first time in the world rankings released in December 2076 BS. In the same year, he rose to 14th position in the rankings released in December and Dahal rose to 10th position in the rankings issued in the last week of December. Dahal was ranked seventh in the rankings issued by the federation in March 2076 BS and he was ranked third in January last year. 

The World Badminton Federation publishes the rankings of junior and senior players from around the world every week. Dahal is currently studying in class 11 at Pinagal College in Lagankhel, Lalitpur. Similarly, according to the rankings for women's junior released by the World Badminton Federation, Nepali women's player Rasila Maharjan has been ranked 19th.
