The air service linking the Humla district with other districts remains disrupted for the last five days. Flights to and from the district could not take place due to the incessant rains throughout the country including in Humla.
The private airlines which had been operating regular flights from Nepalgunj and Surkhet even during the prohibitory period suspended the flights due to unfavourable weather. The Simikot Airport Office here said that flights had to be suspended due to the incessant rainfall in the district caused by the monsoon wind that entered Nepal.
Meanwhile, the transportation of food grain, construction materials and logistics, and daily consumer goods to the district from outside has also stopped with the suspension of flights. This is likely to create a shortage of essential goods in the district.
