Chief Minister of Province No. 1 Rajendra Kumar Rai has said that culture should be protected from extinction.
Inaugurating a state-level literary seminar organized in collaboration with Nepal Pragya Pratisthan and Virat Sahitya Sangam today, Chief Minister Rai stressed the need to preserve language, literature, art, and culture. "Kirant has a long history and civilization in this region," he said. "Language, literature, and culture should be explored and researched."
President of Virat Sahitya Sangam Madhu Pokhrel, Rambabu Dahal, Hemraj Poudel and Ramrizan Yadav also spoke at the program chaired by Ganga Prasad Upreti. Poets, writers, culturologists, and critics from Sunsari, Morang, and Jhapa are participating in the seminar which will continue till Saturday.
Prof. Dr. Som Prasad Khatiwada on the cultural heritage of the Koshi region, Prof. Dr. Tek Bahadur Shrestha on the history of Nepal, Kirant Janajivan, and Madhu Kerung are scheduled to present working papers on folk literature.
