The beauty of Rupse Waterfall, a naturally attractive tourist spot on the Annapurna Circuit Trail, has started to disappear due to the annual floods. This waterfall located in Annapurna Rural Municipality-3 Dana of Northern Myagdi was very attractive and fascinating. However, after the flood that came after the heavy rain on Monday, 5th July 2077, the beauty of Rupse was spoiled, since then the process of natural destruction of the waterfall is increasing. This waterfall at a height of about 1800 meters above the sea level is slightly higher than the deepest gorge in the world created by the gorge of Kaligandaki.
This waterfall has also found a place on postage stamps. Tourists who travel mustang visit this Andhagalchi, which is under the Beni-Jomsom road section that goes to Mustang. The depth of Andhagalchi is 6 thousand 967 meters, created by the river Kaligandaki, the only holy place where Shaligram can be found in the world. Located between Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himal, the seventh highest peak in the world, this peak is located at a height of 1,200 meters above sea level. Domestic and foreign tourists are reaching there daily to observe Galchi.
To reach Rupse and Andhagalchi, which are 30 kilometers north of Benibazar, the headquarters of Myagdi, one needs to travel for about three hours by means of transport and about one day on foot. Andhagalchi and Rupse waterfalls under the Beni-Jomsom road section can be easily reached from Beni in three hours by vehicle. Tourists going to Mustang stop their vehicles and take photos at this waterfall.
Thousands of internal and external tourists who planned to enjoy Rupse have not been able to see its old beauty since Shrawan 2077. The flood in Rupse in Shrawan 2077 washed away not only the beauty of the waterfall but also a hotel, bridge and excavator. Krishna Bahadur Pun, a local resident, said that the beauty of the area has been destroyed after the flood in the waterfall swept away the Gold Land Water Fall Hotel, an excavator machine of Gajurmukhi Company, a bus and a bridge. According to Pun, a lot of labor and investment is required to return the Rupse waterfall to its original form.
He says that now Rupse waterfall has become desolate and ugly. In 1975, Rupse's photo was pasted on a 75-paisa postage stamp. Even though it is not in vogue now, the local elders said that Rupse had been popularized since then. "There used to be a crowd of people not only from Gandaki province but also from abroad to enjoy the Rupse waterfall", said Indrasingh Sherchan, a tourism businessman from Dana, "There used to be a crowd of cars near the bridge, people enjoying themselves on the right and left side of the waterfall." Lin used to go back and forth, now it all became like a story of folk tale.
Since the year 2075, the number of domestic tourists visiting the Himalayan district of Mustang by land had increased significantly. Those tourists were attracted by the sight of Rupse waterfall. "However, after the flood destroyed Rupse, everyone's dreams have been shattered." Tourism businessman Sherchan said.
