Missing climber rescued alive after four days

A climber, who went missing from Annapurna Base Camp II at Myagdi district since Monday, has been rescued alive after four days.

Anurag Maloo, 34, of Rajasthan, India, was found at Annapurna Base Camp II this morning. Manager of Seven Summit Trek, Thaneshwor Guragain, said a chopper of Prabhu Air rescued Maloo from a spot at an altitude of 7,500 meters from the sea level at 10:30 am.

Maloo is receiving treatment at Pokhara-based Manipal Teaching Hospital, added Guragain. According to Maloo's family, his condition is serious. He had gone for an expedition from Seven Summit Trek and went missing while descending from the peak after his failed attempt to reach atop.

Earlier on Tuesday, a 27-year-old Indian climber Baljeet Kaur, who was on an expedition to Mt Annapurna, was rescued alive from an altitude of 7,500 meters by the Kailash Air chopper. Health condition of Kaur, who was taken to Kathmandu, is normal, said Pioneer Adventure, a trekking company.

The 8,091 meters tall Mt Annapurna is located at Annapurna rural municipality-4 in Myagdi district.

A total of 45 people have been granted permission by the Department of Tourism for expedition to Mt. Annapurna this year. The climbing expedition on Mt Annapurna for this year's spring season has begun from April 15.

Thirty-five mountaineers have successfully descended after climbing Mt Annapurna till Wednesday, said Chairperson of Conservation Area Management Committee, Tej Gurung. Mt Annapurna is the 10th tallest peak in the world.
