After the utter failure of the previous Nepal Tourism Year due to the coronavirus, the concerned authorities are in talks to launch another revamped Nepal Tourism Year to provide a lifeline to the faltering tourism industry in the nation, informed the Vice Chairman of the Nepal Tourism Board, Chandra Rijal.

Having already successfully run the Nepal Tourism Year in 1998 and 2011, tour operators from various nations have already begun researching the nation for the launch of the program in the upcoming spring season. With the common consensus amongst the tourism business men being that for the market to return to pre-covid numbers it would still take a few years, but the Tourism Year 2022/23 would definitely go ways to hastening the recovery moving forward.

Despite the mountaineering sector receiving a significant number of tourists the other sectors still lagged behind. Domesticc seemed to look like a promising sector during this period, with businessmen seeing an increase in Nepalese travelling around the country. With the government having provisions of mandatory 10 day leave for the governmental officials for domestic travel not implemented yet, it is high time the government and concerned bodies coordinate better to bring forth more dramatic change in the positive direction in the booming domestic sector.
