Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale has said the preservation of arts and cultures was needed since they are the assets for a country's identity.
At a programme organised by Jyapu Samaj Yala Lalitpur on Holi Parva on Thursday, Minister Ale said cultures must be preserved at any cost.
Saying that Nepal is rich in arts and cultures, Minister Ale argued that our unique arts and cultures should be preserved for tourism promotion and to bring in more and more tourists.
He was of the view that human life will remain incomplete in absence of arts and cultures thereby the youth generation should take a lead for the protection and preservation of arts and cultures.
On the occasion, Minister Ale expressed concerns about the rising trend of encroachment upon religious sites for personal gain and pledged to book such individuals and groups.
The government was committed to the preservation of heritages with archaeological importance recalling that the government has brought idols from the USA, the UK, France, Italy and other countries which were stolen from Nepal in the past, Minister Ale added.
