There are regular international flights to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) from 10 different countries. According to TIA, there are regular flights from Kuwait, Malaysia, Qatar, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, China, Turkey, Sri Lanka, India and Singapore.
According to TIA spokesperson Prem Nath Thakur, 20 airlines have been flying to 30 destinations operating regular flights from 10 countries. Despite the growing COVID infection, the movement is continuous following health protocols.
Air Arabia, Air China, Air India, Bangladesh Airlines, Cathay, Jazeera Airways, Korean Air, Malindo Air, Nepal Airlines, Qatar Airlines, Salaam Air, China Eastern, Sichuan Airlines, China Southern. Airlines, Silk Air, Fly Dubai, Thai Airlines, Himalayan Airlines and Turkish Airlines have been operating international flights.
The government has begun tightening health standards as the spread of the new variant 'Omicron' of the Coronavirus is increasing globally. Earlier, the Immigration Department had decided that those coming from 67 countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, must stay in hotel quarantine for seven days at their own expense. But the decision was reversed within 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Population has also suggested that entry into the airport should be done only after identifying the risky countries and conducting strict health checkups.
