Kakani

Just 26 kilometers to the northwest of the capital there is a beautiful village, Kakani. It is a famous day tour hill station and a popular viewpoint inside the Kathmandu valley which will only take 45 minutes if traveled to by your personal vehicle or an hour and a half ride if you decide to use a local bus. Located at an elevation of 2,230 meters (6,660 ft) from sea level. Kakani has been blessing us with panoramic views of mountains, hills, and luscious jungle with rhododendrons adding beautiful color during spring. The village also has a memorial park built in the honor of the victims of Thai Airways International flight 311 in 1992. The place is also famous for picnics, family outings, cycling, and couples.

Tatopani

This village lies between the trading post of Nepal and China in the Sindhupalchowk district. It is located at an altitude of 2,030 meters (6,660 ft) from sea level. It will approximately take 4 hours by local bus but can reach 30 minutes to 45 minutes on your private transportation. As per its name, Tatopani is famous for its hot spring which is located at a height of 2,758 meters (9,050 ft). It is believed that bathing in the hot spring cures many diseases of the skin and even paralysis. It is also considered a holy dip to remain healthy. There is also an inactive volcano there which is the reason for the hot springs in the village.

Panauti

Panauti is a historical city of Nepal given as a dowry to his sister by King Bhupayindra Malla. It was also a trading capital, as revealed by several Rana-era mansions restored by the French government. Located in the Kavrepalanchowk district just 32 kilometers southeast of the capital. It is home to a variety of Buddhist and Hindu religious monuments. Unmanta Bhairav Temple and one of the largest and tallest Pagoda-style temples of Nepa & Indreshwar Temple also lies here. Every year during the month of Jestha (May-June) chariot festival which is also known as Panauti Jatra is celebrated and every 12 years a month-long fair is held known as Makar Mela which has been running since 774 Nepal Sambat by King Pratap Malla. Hundreds and thousands of devotees visit this fair to cleanse themselves in the sacred water of Rosi, Punyamti, and Lilawati (believed to be an invisible river).

Chitlang

Sitting proudly in the southwest of the capital in the Mahabharat range is Chitlang village. It lies in Thaha Municipality of Makwanpur district about 22 kilometers away from Kathmandu. It is in the ancient Newari settlement and inscriptions found here date it back to the Licchavi era. There are several means to reach this beautiful village either by local buses and smaller vehicles from Kathmandu and Thankot or your own transport. Chitlang blesses her visitors with different Newari culture, Swachchhanda Bhairav Temple, Satdhaea farm and Organic village resort are some of the plethora of attractions awaiting you this spring!
