Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) accepted over 12,000 passengers in this May while the number of passengers departing from the airport during this period is doubled.
The data unveiled by the Department of Immigration showed numbers of passengers leaving at the country’s sole international airport last month, 1,468 were foreigners while remaining 10,932were Nepali citizens. Likewise, among those leaving for various destinations from TIA, 9,977 were foreigners and remaining 13,158 were Nepali nationals.
In May, less number of foreigners arrived Nepal via TIA ,while in April the highest number of tourists (22,450) from 144 countries landed amid pandemic and subsequent lockdowns in the country. The number of incoming Nepali passengers were 51,775 in April.
