Despite the decrease in the price of petroleum products, the Bagmati Province government has finally adjusted the fares after being criticized for not adjusting the fares of inter-municipal public vehicles within Bagmati province.
The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Transport of the province has reduced the fare rate of public vehicles running at an inter-local level within the province by about five percent. A week after the federal government reduced the fare rates of inter-state public vehicles after the fall in the price of petroleum products; the state government has decided to reduce the fare rates.
The current fare rate of city buses operating within the valley will be reduced by 5.90 percent with effect from Thursday. Similarly, the ministry has decided to reduce the fares for freight vehicles running within Bagmati province by 5.69 percent and passenger buses by 4.18 percent.
