KATHMANDU: Deputy Governor Neelam Dhungana has been designated as the Acting Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel made the appointment in accordance with Section 27 of the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2058.

The Ministry of Finance has formally assigned Dhungana the role of Acting Governor as a priority measure.

A Council of Ministers meeting is scheduled for later today, though it is unlikely that a new governor will be appointed at that time. Nepal Rastra Bank has already sent a confirmation letter to the Ministry of Finance regarding Dhungana’s new role.

Former Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari, who completed his five-year term, began his leave on Friday.
