KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank has announced the foreign exchange rates for today (Friday), showing an increase in the value of several major currencies.
The US dollar, euro, British pound, Kuwaiti dinar, and Bahraini dinar have all appreciated, while some currencies, such as the Australian dollar, have seen a slight decline.
In recent days, most foreign currencies had been on a downward trend, but today’s rates indicate a modest rebound. The buying rate for 1 US dollar is now Rs 136.96, while the selling rate stands at Rs 137.56, slightly up from Rs 136.84 and Rs 137.44 yesterday.
On Magh 25, the exchange rate for 1 US dollar had reached a peak of Rs 139.83 (buying) and Rs 140.43 (selling), the highest recorded value in the Nepali market so far.
The European euro has also strengthened, with a buying rate of Rs 147.70 and a selling rate of Rs 148.35, increasing from Rs 147.68 and Rs 148.33 yesterday.
Likewise, the British pound sterling has gained value, now standing at Rs 177.18 (buying) and Rs 177.95 (selling), compared to Rs 176.59 and Rs 177.37 yesterday.
In contrast, the Australian dollar has depreciated slightly, with its buying rate dropping to Rs 86.46 and its selling rate to Rs 86.83, down from Rs 86.56 and Rs 86.94 yesterday.
The Kuwaiti dinar has appreciated as well, with a buying rate of Rs 444.06 and a selling rate of Rs 446.00, up from Rs 443.74 and Rs 445.68 yesterday.
Similarly, the Bahraini dinar has also seen a rise, now trading at Rs 363.27 (buying) and Rs 364.86 (selling), compared to Rs 362.95 and Rs 364.54 yesterday.
