The 'Ice Climbing Festival' with an aim to promote domestic and international adventure tourism is being held in Humde of Manang and Thame of Khumbu. Organized by Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) with the support of Thame Kiduk and the Nepal Climbing Team, the festival is being kicked from January 29.
According to Kul Bahadur Gurung, general secretary of the association, the association has hosted the festival to resurrect the tourism sector that has been paralyzed for nine months by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The festival that was solely hosted at Humde last year, is also being organized at Thame. According to the organizers, they have chosen Thame as a venue to promote the tourism of the village of legendary climber Kami Rita Sherpa. Besides local, the international participants will also compete in the festival.
The ten-day long festival is slated to run till February 10.
