KATHMANDU: Gold prices have reached a historic peak today, following a consistent upward trend.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Traders, the surge in gold prices has been influenced by the Tihar festival, one of Nepal’s major celebrations.

On Wednesday, the price of fine gold was recorded at NPR 170,700 per tola, representing an increase of NPR 2,200, and today it has been adjusted to NPR 171,000, reflecting a rise of NPR 300 since Wednesday.

In contrast, silver prices have fallen by NPR 30 per tola. After being priced at NPR 2,120 per tola on Wednesday, silver is now set at NPR 2,090.
