BAGLUNG: The farmers of Khatekhola Rural Municipality-6 in Baglung district have produced orange worth Rs 54 million this year. The production of orange this year grew by Rs 20 million compared to the last year, Agricultural Technician at Khatekhola Rural Municipality Agni Kandel said.
The farmers in the rural municipality produced orange worth Rs 35 million last year.
The farmers in ward no. 6 of the rural municipality have done orange farming in 30 hectares of land and grew almost 900 metric tonnes this year, Kandel said.
He stated that production was higher this year as no disease was reported in the orange plants and added that the technical supports from the rural municipality also contributed to the higher production.
The rural municipality is working to expand orange farming here, he mentioned.
Loknath Kandel, a farmer from Khatekhola Rural Municipality-6, said production of orange is on the rise in his village adding that garden management was more important for increased production.
The farmers here have shared that they have no issues for market for orange since the buyers visit the gardens to pay the farmers.
