It has been found that more than four billion sarees, dhoti and lungis are imported in Nepal in a year.
According to the customs department, sarees, dhoti and lungis of the same value have entered Nepal in the last financial year. According to the department, sarees, dhoti and lungi worth 3.85 billion 28.85 thousand rupees were imported into Nepal from various countries during that period.
Saris, dhoti and lungis are imported to Nepal from countries like Belgium, Bhutan, China, France, India, Indonesia, America, Germany, Netherlands, Thailand, Namibia, Australia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Nicaragua, Qatar, Singapore, Sri Lanka and others. Most of which are imported from India.
