The Nepal Bottle Water Industries Association (NBWIA) has urged traders to sell jar and bottled water not exceeding the set prices. In a press conference organised here today, the Association said the request followed the complaints that traders were charging the customers rampantly in the sale of jar and bottled water. The Association President Dhurba Gautam said the Association was effortful in expediting the market monitoring to ensure jar and bottled water are sold at the set price.
“In the Kathmandu Valley, a 20 litres jar of water is sold for a set price of Rs 45 to Rs 47, and a litre bottled water for Rs 16. Outside the Valley, Rs 60 is set for a 20 litres jar of water and Rs 20 for a litre bottled water. Selling the water exceeding the set price is subject to action,” he said.
The market monitoring has taken place after forming a market monitoring committee under the leadership of the Association central senior vice president Bikram Limbu Chemjong, it has been said. So far, over 50 traders and industrialists found selling the water exceeding the set price have faced action, said Chemjong.
