NRB reports drop in major foreign currencies

KATHMANDU; Nepal Rastra Bank has announced the foreign exchange rates for today (Tuesday), showing a decline in the value of several major currencies, including the US dollar, euro, pound sterling, Kuwaiti dinar, and Bahraini dinar, while the Australian dollar has slightly appreciated.

This downward trend in foreign currency values has been observed over the past few days. Yesterday, the US dollar, euro, pound sterling, Kuwaiti dinar, and Bahraini dinar also saw a drop in their exchange rates.

As per today’s rates, the buying price of one US dollar is Rs. 136.72, while the selling price is Rs. 137.32.

In comparison, yesterday’s rates were Rs. 137.26 and Rs. 137.86, respectively. The US dollar had reached its highest value in the Nepali market on Magh 25, with a buying rate of Rs. 139.83 and a selling rate of Rs. 140.43.

The European euro is currently being traded at a buying rate of Rs. 148.28 and a selling rate of Rs. 148.93, slightly lower than yesterday’s Rs. 148.45 and Rs. 149.10.

Similarly, the British pound sterling has a buying price of Rs. 177.16 and a selling price of Rs. 177.94, compared to Rs. 177.33 and Rs. 178.11 recorded the previous day.

Unlike most other currencies, the Australian dollar has increased in value, with today’s buying rate at Rs. 86.11 and selling rate at Rs. 86.49, up from Rs. 86.08 and Rs. 86.45 yesterday.

Among Middle Eastern currencies, the Kuwaiti dinar is now valued at a buying rate of Rs. 443.55 and a selling rate of Rs. 445.50, showing a decline from Rs. 445.29 and Rs. 447.23 the previous day.

Likewise, the Bahraini dinar has dropped, with its buying price at Rs. 362.69 and selling price at Rs. 364.28, compared to yesterday’s Rs. 364.12 and Rs. 365.71.
