More than 2,100 domestic and small scale industries have been added in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta West) district in a year. With that more than 9,000 people have also found employment in the newly added industries.
Netra Prasad Bhusal, chief of the Home and Small Industries Office, said that 2,167 small and cottage industries were registered in the last fiscal year 2077/78. And have seen a massive increase over the previous year.
In the previous fiscal year 2076-07, 1,121 industries were registered in the district. Agriculture and forestry industries are among the new additions last year. According to the office, 1,557 agro-forestry industries have been registered in the last fiscal year 2077/78, while 470 service-oriented and 140 manufacturing industries have been added.
According to the office, the increase in industry registration is due to the Lumbini state government providing free industry registration to the unemployed due to the epidemic with the objective of creating an environment of self-employment in the country. Similarly, the number of women entrepreneurs is increasing as incentives and concession programs have been introduced for women, said Bhusal.
There are 2,396 entrepreneurs including 1,303 men and 1,093 women added last year alone. According to the office, Rs. 5.6 billion has been invested in the industries.
According to him, 9 thousand 132 people have got employment from the new industry. Six thousand 221 people including 3 thousand 515 men and 2 thousand 706 women have got employment in agriculture and forestry industries.
According to Bhusal, the head of the office, 2,084 people have found employment in the service industries. There are 1,362 males and 722 females. A total of 827 people, including 572 men and 255 women, are employed in the newly added manufacturing industries. The district is considered fertile for agriculture. According to the office, most of the youths and women here are attracted towards entrepreneurship.
