Vote count under the 26th central working committee election of the Nepal Bar Association has started.
The vote count that was scheduled to begin at 9:00 am began one hour later due to management issues, according to Senior Advocate and Chief Election Officer of the Nepal Bar Association (NBA)-2078, Usha Malla Pathak.
According to the NBA election, the voting was organized in a peaceful manner in all 35 voting centers including in Kathmandu on April 2,
Ballot boxes from all 34 voting centers outside the Kathmandu Valley were already brought to Kathmandu, said Pathak.
9,708 advocates had cast their votes for the 25 member working committee including a chair and 11 office bearers. Among them, 5,700 were from the Kathmandu Valley and the remaining from outside.
Professional legal practitioners and broader democratic progressive inclusive had two separate panels for the election.
The progressive panel has been led by Senior Advocate Bishnu Hari Adhikari and the broader democratic one by senior advocate Gopal Krishna Ghimire. For the post of chairperson of the NBA, eight persons--from the group and individual levels--have filed candidacies.
