Binaya Jung Basnet, involved in the cremation of unattended bodies in Kathmandu, has been arrested from Gongobu of Kathmandu today.

He was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by Sapana Roka Magar, said Metropolitan Police Range spokesperson DSP Pramesh Bista.

Sapana Roka Magar, who used to work together with Basnet, rose to global fame after she was named the world’s 100 influential women by the BBC in 2020.

An investigation has begun following the arrest on the charge of mistreatment, said DSP Bista.
