Deputy Mayor Hari Prabha Khadgi decided to boycott the meeting of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office with other elected local representatives of the Nepali Congress. The deputy mayor informed that they had boycotted the meeting as a protest against Mayor Bidhya Sundar Shakya’s plans to announce the policies and programmes for the next fiscal year today.

Thirteen ward chairpersons have boycotted the meeting.

Mayor Shakya had called for the meeting of the local representatives at 11 am where he also planned to announce the policies and programmes for next fiscal year 2078/79. Deputy Mayor Khadgi mentioned that the mayor had asked them for their suggestions for the policies and programmes but had mentioned that he would announce them during the meeting itself.

Khadgi said that this did not give them an opportunity to give feedback on what could be included and what could be omitted from the policies and programmes.

Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office has decided to provide financial aid of Rs 20 million for the people who have been affected by the flood caused by the Melamchi River and Indrawati River in Sindhupalchowk district.

The meeting of KMC that was held today took a decision to this effect. Sindhupalchowk has been severely affected due to the floods caused by the incessant rain for the last few days. May people have lost their lives and some are missing too. The flood has also washed away many houses in the district.
