Minister for Foreign Affairs, Narayan Prakash Saud, today held a meeting with former foreign minister, former foreign secretaries and former ambassadors to India.
In the meeting held on the eve of Minister for External Affairs of India, S. Jaishankar's visit to Nepal, the participants gave their suggestions on various agenda about Nepal-India relations, according to the Minister.
"The former minister, secretaries and ambassadors stressed on the significance of Nepal's relations with India, advising to take it ahead as an understanding based on cordiality and mutual interests," he said
The government was advised to explore ways for promoting Nepal's exports to India in view of a widening trade deficit between the two countries, improving cross-border infrastructure, concluding development projects launched in the past and addressing the air route issues.
Former Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Bhekh Bahadur Thapa, former foreign secretaries Madhuraman Acharya, Arjun Thapa, Durga Bhattarai, Bharat Poudel and former ambassador Durgeshman Singh were among those summoned by the Minister for consultations.
The Indian external affairs minister will be arriving Nepal on a two-day official visit, beginning on Thursday.
