The Holi festival has been concluded by burning a symbolism of Holika who is considered a demon in Hinduism. Holika was the sister of Hiranyakashyap. She had tried to kill the devotee Prahlad in a fire. But it is believed that Lord Vishnu lit the fire, resulting in her own death. It is believed that the celebration of Holi started with this happiness.

The symbolism of Holika was burnt at Tundikhel in Kathmandu at 5:30 am today. The wooden pole, which was buried in Basantapur for a religious ceremony, was taken to Tudikhel and burnt. There was also a security team when it was carried to Tundikhel. Crowds of people had gathered at Tundikhel to collect the ashes of the wood. It is believed to protect oneself and bring them good luck.

A tanker of the Kathmandu Metropolitan had helped to put out the fire and the area was also cleaned. Social organizations had distributed offerings to the devotees going there.

In Basantapur, New Road and Thamel, which were very crowded on the occasion of Holi yesterday, the cleaners cleaned the area this morning. According to the ones involved in cleaning, many beer bottles were found in the Thamel area and in Basantapur they found many pairs of shoes.

Today, Holi festival is being celebrated in Terai of Nepal.
