Outgoing officers and employees of Buddhshanti Rural Municipality have to return the amount of smart phones they bought from the municipality's fund against the rules.
The Office of the Auditor General in the report of 2078-79 has determined that the amount spent to buy mobile phones from the municipality's funds is Rs. 1.3 lakh nine thousand against the rules.
The office has also instructed to return that amount to the treasury of the municipality. After the 2074 local elections, Ramesh Bhujel was elected as the president of Buddhashanti Rural Municipality and Meera Bhurtel as the vice president.
In the report of the General Account, it is mentioned that the Act 2075 regarding the facilities of the members of the Village and Municipal Assembly of Province No. 1 provides for the provision of communication facilities for every officer and member, and the facility of buying a smart phone is not included in the Act. It is clearly mentioned in the report that expenses should be recovered for facilities that are not in the law.
