KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Valley is expected to experience colder weather today (Saturday).
Meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane of the Weather Forecasting Division stated that the weather in the Kathmandu Valley will change this afternoon due to the influence of a western low-pressure system.
“There will be alternating sunny and cloudy weather in Kathmandu this afternoon,” he said.
“There is no chance of rain this afternoon, but cloudy weather is expected, and the conditions will change.”
He added, “As a result, the weather is likely to be relatively cold in Kathmandu today, and we expect sporadic rain overnight.”
Meanwhile, Meteorologist Lamichhane reported that the minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley was 7.4 degrees Celsius, as measured at 5:45 a.m. this morning.
“The maximum temperature today is expected to be between 19 and 21 degrees Celsius,” he said.
Yesterday, Friday, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley was 6.6 degrees Celsius.
The official minimum temperature for today will be re-measured at 8:45 a.m. If there is a further decrease at that time, it may remain the same as it is now.
Similarly, the maximum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley on Friday was 20.6 degrees Celsius.
According to meteorologists, if the sky is cloudy at night, the minimum temperature tends to increase in the morning, while it decreases if the sky remains clear.
Conversely, if the sun is not visible during the day, the maximum temperature drops when the sky is clear and rises if the sun shines throughout the day.
The minimum temperature is the lowest recorded temperature of the day, while the maximum temperature is the highest.
Meteorologists typically measure the minimum temperature at 8:45 a.m. and the maximum temperature at 5:45 p.m. each day.
