Minister Ale releases book on martyr Lakhan Thapa

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Prem Bahadur Ale, has released a book on the first martyr of the country, Lakhan Thapa.

The research-based book, 'First martyr Lakhan Thapa Magar' is penned by researcher Jivan Ale Magar. It is published by Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality, Gorkha.

Minister Ale reminded that a mutiny was launched against the Rana system from 1927BS to 1933BS by some 2,000 fighters organized under the leadership of Lakhan Thapa Magar. The government has honoured Lakhan Thapa Magar by announcing him as the first martyr of the country, he added.

Minister Ale further said the government would pay heed to protect the memorial fort located at ward no 7 of Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality.

Similarly, author Jivan Ale Magar viewed the book had depicted the historic life of martyr Lakhan Thapa. It may serve as a significant historic document, he hoped.

Chairperson of the Commission on Indigenous Nationalities, Ram Bahadur Thapa Magar, reminded that along with Lakhan Thapa, the Rana regime had executed Jaysing Chumi Rana Magar, Jitman Gurung, Achhami Magar, Ajapsing Thapa Magar, Biraj Thapa Magar and Jyuthya Thapa Magar in 1933BS.
