A youth has been arrested on charge of assaulting police from Surabinayak Municipality-8 in Bhaktapur district on Saturday night.

The arrested has been identified as Rajan Kawang (27) of Jagati in the district.

Kawang was allegedly consuming liquor and creating a lot of noise. Security personnel deployed from the Jagati-based Metropolitan Police Circle (MPC) reached the place where the incident occurred and tried to stop him from creating a ruckus. However, he initially abused the police personnel verbally and then tried to physically assault the police personnel.

Further investigation into the case is underway, informed MPC, Jagati.
