Public transport entrepreneurs and workers have said they will start operating all types of public vehicles in Kathmandu valley against the government’s decision to allow vehicles with capacity of more than 25 seats to resume services from today.

Drawing the government’s attention to the various decisions that it has taken the entrepreneurs and three unions of transport workers have issued a statement mentioning they will start operating all types of vehicles from July 2.

The Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs, Nepal Transport Workers Union, All Nepal Transport Workers Union and Independent Transport Workers Association of Nepal have issued a joint statement saying they will start operating all public vehicles from July 2 by adopting necessary health safety measures.

The unions have said that the government allowing only big buses with capacity of more than 25 seats to operate shows that the government is not aware and bothered about the plight of the owners and workers of smaller vehicles. They have stated that it is about paying back bank loans and putting bread on the table.
