The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested two persons who had been convicted of banking offences but were absconding from Kathmandu.

One of the arrested has been identified as Milan Dangol (48) of Tokha Municipality-2 in Kathmandu.

Patan High Court had convicted him of banking offences and fined him Rs 15 lakh and sentenced him to 7-day imprisonment.

According to police, a banking offence case was filed against Dangol as he had issued a cheque of Nepal Investment Bank worth Rs 1.5 million to the victims. However, Dangol did not have enough funds in his account.

On the other hand, another accused has been identified as Dev Narayan Maharjan (63) of Kathmandu-22.

Patan High Court had convicted him of banking offences and fined him Rs 1.5 million and sentenced him to 5 days of imprisonment.

Maharjan allegedly gave a cheque of Machapuchchre Bank worth Rs 1.5 million to the victim by deliberately lying to them but he didn't have sufficient funds in his account.

Both of them were convicted of banking offences by Patan High Court.

Meanwhile, MCD officials nabbed Dangol from Tokha while Maharjan was arrested from Kalanki area on Monday.

The accused duo will be presented at Kathmandu District Court to implement the decision, informed the MCD.
