Two arrested for character assassination through social media in Kathmandu

Police in Kathmandu district arrested two persons on charge of character assassination through the use of social media on Tuesday.

The arrested have been identified as Sanu Pode (26), a local resident of Dallu in KMC-17, and Ramendra Khadka (52), a local resident of Sigana of Baglung Municipality-8 in Baglung district.

Pode repeatedly sent obscene videos and morphed pictures/videos of the victim's face and the naked picture of an unidentified woman on the minor's Facebook Messenger.

Meanwhile, Khadka also misused the photos and videos of people on social media sites like Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Photoshop, Mutilate, and others that is prohibited by the prevailing laws.

Security personnel deployed from the Kathmandu-based Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police arrested Pode while District Police Office, Baglung in coordination with the Cyber Bureau arrested Khadka.

Further investigation into the case is underway, informed the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police.
