Kathmandu and Lalitpur will start vaccination drive for children of the age group of 12 to 17 from tomorrow. According to health officials, children will be able to get vaccinated from their own schools.
According to District Health Office Kathmandu Chief Shambhu Kafle, the target is to vaccinate around 270,000 students wit Pfizer vaccine in Kathmandu district.
The health office expects 10 per cent more children to get vaccinated. Kafle said that the necessary materials including vaccination for 300,000 children would be sent to the vaccination centers. "The office has given the responsibility to the local level to select the vaccination center," he adds.
Lalitpur has also decided to give Pfizer vaccine to children of all six local levels from Tuesday. According to Satish Bista, head of the health office in Lalitpur, the target is to vaccinate 71,301 children.
He said, "Schools with more than 200 students will be vaccination centers." But students from schools with the lowest number of students will be able to go to another nearby vaccination center to get vaccinated said Bista.
Some locals in Bhaktapur district have already started vaccinating children since Sunday.
