Due to
road maintenance work, the garbage management work of
Kathmandu Valley will be affected for the next week. The place where garbage was managed earlier, from Sisdol in Nuwakot to
Bancharedanda, the long-term waste management site, is being repaired.
The Ministry of Urban Development has asked the
Kathmandu Metropolitan City not to send garbage trucks for a few days, saying that there is a problem in the road maintenance work due to the movement of garbage trucks. Sarita Rai, head of
Kampa Environment Department, informed that the waste management work of 18 local levels of Kathmandu Valley will be stopped from Friday.
Due to road maintenance, even before this, waste vehicles used to reach the final disposal site from the valley only from 4 am to 12 pm. The
Metropolitan Corporation has issued a notification today and has appealed to keep the rotting and non-rotting waste generated from their respective homes and shops separately in the streets, squares, public places, and inside the house.
Every day, 1,200 metric tons of waste from the valley is being managed in Sisdol. Out of this, 500 metric tons of waste is released in Kampa. At least 200 private and commercial vehicles used to take garbage every day, but now only 50 vehicles reach Sisdol.
