KATHMANDU: The Nepal Police arrested 16 people on charge of killing a youth at Khadkagaun, Kalanki, in the Capital City on Monday evening. Those accused were made public on Tuesday.
Avaya Tamang also known as Abe, 23, from Melung Rural Municipality-4 in Dolakha district and currently living at Chandragiri Municipality in Kathmandu was killed in a gang fight happened between two rowdy groups in Khadkagaun, Kalanki.
Police said that Tamang died while receiving treatment at a hospital in Kathmandu after serious injuries as he was attacked with sharp weapons and iron rods from 16 people including Ashish Shrestha of Parsa district and currently living at Syauchatar area in Nagarjun Municipality-10, according to Spokesperson of District Police Range Kathmandu and Superintendent of Police Apil Raj Bohara.
Further investigations into the alleged ones have been initiated by taking permission from the district court to keep them in custody for five days.
The other arrestees are Ashish Shrestha, 21, Sujan Tamang, 21, Raj Aryal, 27, Denial BK, 20, Nischal Blon Tamang, 20, Sushan Shrestha, 19, Binaya Alemagar, 23, Khemraj Bahadur Magar, 21, Ranjit Shrestha, 22, and others from Kathmandu, Sindhuli, Sarlahi, Sunsari, Dhading, Udayapur, Gorkha and other districts.
