KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has been released on bail of Rs 6 million at the Kathmandu District Court.

Lamichhane was released on Wednesday evening after Prabhu Bank provided a guarantee for the bail of Rs 6 million demanded by District Court Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari. If Rabi could not provide the bail or had no bank guarantee, he would have had to go to jail for at least a day.

Rabi left the court premises happily after Prabhu Bank provided a guarantee saying that he would pay if Rabi could not pay Rs 6 million.

This decision was made after discussions between the Kathmandu District Court, Rabi and Prabhu Bank. Now the bank will take the guarantee amount from Rabi.

Earlier, he was released on bail of Rs 6.5 million at the District Court, Kaski last Thursday. After that, he appeared for the case at the Kathmandu District Court on Sunday.
