Court orders Rabi’s release on Rs 6 million bail

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the release of Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane on bail in the Swarnalakshmi Cooperative fraud case.

A single bench of Kathmandu District Court Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari ordered the release of Rabi on a bail of Rs 6 million.

Lamichhane was arrested on Kartik 2 in the Surya Darshan Cooperative fraud case in Pokhara, was released from Kaski on Thursday evening after posting a bail of Rs 6.5 million after 84 days.

After that, he appeared on Sunday in a case filed against Lamichhane as a defendant in a case related to the misappropriation of funds in the Swarnalakshmi Cooperative Society. After that, the court sent him to custody.

A case was filed against Rabi and others for embezzling Rs 1.19 billion from 690 savers from the Swarnalakshmi Cooperative Society.
