KATHMANDU: The arguments of the government attorney in the Pokhara Surya Darshan Cooperative fraud case, which implicates Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane, along with six other defendants, has concluded.
District Attorney Kamala Kafle informed that since the closed argument has ended, the bench may issue a rebuttal order by this evening.
The detention argument of seven defendants, including Ravi, in the cooperative fraud case has begun in the bench of Judge Nitij Rai since December 31.
The district court stated that the District Attorney Kafle and others presented their rebuttal arguments on behalf of the government attorney today. The order on whether to keep the defendants in custody for trial and continue the investigation after releasing them will be made today, Attorney Kafle said.
Lamichhane and former Deputy Inspector General of Police Chhabilal Joshi, Leela Pachai, Krishna Bahadur Gurung, Ram Bahadur Khanal, and others have been implicated in the case of embezzlement of funds from the cooperative.
On December 22, the District Attorney’s Office had filed a case against 44 people, including Lamichhane, on charges of embezzlement of funds from the cooperative.
The Office of the Attorney General has so far filed a case against 63 people in the District Court, Kaski, in the Surya Darshan Cooperative fraud case. The District Attorney’s Office has stated that a case has also been filed against 19 people, including Lamichhane, for organized crime.
Attorney Kafle said that along with Lamichhane, there is also a case against Khanal, Joshi, and Pachai for money laundering.
