Lamichhane set to face new case in Rupandehi

KATHMANDU: A new case is being prepared for registration in Rupandehi against Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane, who was released from the Kathmandu District Court on Tuesday after posting bail amounting to Rs 6 million.

The Rupandehi District Government Attorney’s Office intends to file a case in the District Court against Lamichhane and his associate, Chhabilal Joshi.

The Government Attorney’s Office is in the process of submitting a supplementary charge sheet against Lamichhane and the other defendants involved in the Supreme Cooperative Society savings fraud case in Butwal, scheduled for Friday.

On Thursday, an additional charge sheet was filed against 17 individuals. Previously, charges had already been brought against 28 individuals, including Rabi’s associate in the Gorkha Media Network and director of Supreme Cooperative, Gitendra Babu Rai (GB). The District Government Attorney’s Office has indicated that the additional charge sheet filed on Thursday includes allegations of organized crime against these 17 individuals, including GB.
