KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, Chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and former Home Minister, who was granted bail on Thursday in connection with the embezzlement case involving Pokhara’s Surya Darshan Cooperative, has been handed over to his family.
Since there is an additional case related to the cooperative in Kathmandu, Lamichhane is set to appear at the Kathmandu District Court today, as confirmed by RSP Acting Spokesperson Manish Jha.
After his release, Lamichhane underwent a medical examination at Pokhara’s Fishtail Hospital before being returned to his family.
He was released from Kaski Police custody after posting a bail of 6.5 million rupees, as per the court order. Six other co-defendants also posted bail and were released.
In addition to Lamichhane, Chhabilal Joshi, Leela Pachai, Ram Bahadur Khanal, Krishna Bahadur Gurung, and Aarti Gurung were granted bail and released, as confirmed by Shrestedar Rajan Khanal from the Kaski District Court.
The Attorney General’s Office has filed charges against 63 individuals in total at the Kaski District Court in relation to the Surya Darshan Cooperative fraud case.
