Supreme Cooperative Fraud Case: Case filed against 42 people including Lamichhane

KATHMANDU: A case has been filed in the court in the case of fraud against the Supreme Cooperative in Butwal.
The District Attorney’s Office, Rupandehi, filed the case in the District Court, Rupandehi on Sunday.

42 defendants, including Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President and former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, have appeared in this cooperative fraud case.

A case has been filed against Lamichhane alone, demanding more than 40 million rupees, including 20 million individually and 20 million collectively.

A voucher stating that 20 million rupees had been transferred to Rabi Lamichhane’s name was also recovered. The loan was approved on 18 Chaitra 2077, and it was revealed that Rs 19.6 million was deposited through a voucher from Gorkha Media Network’s Global IME Bank after deducting Rs 400,000 service fee.

This is the second supplementary investigation submitted by the police into the Supreme Cooperative’s misappropriation of funds. Earlier, when Rabi was the Home Minister, Supreme’s case was registered in the court on 3 Baisakh. At that time, a case was filed against 28 people, claiming that they had embezzled Rs 860 million 1823 thousand 754 from 1,831 savers. Now, 14 more people have been made defendants.
