KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) president Rabi Lamichhane appeared at the Rupandehi District Court on Thursday.
Lamichhane, who was arrested in the Supreme cooperative fraud case in Butwal, was released on bail yesterday. He appeared in court for the detention hearing which began today.
Yesterday, the bench of Rupandehi District Court Judge Pralhad Kumar Yogi handed his wife Nikita Poudel and legal practitioners on the condition that he appears on Thursday. From today, the court will start the detention hearing.
A supplementary indictment against 22 individuals, including Lamichhane, was filed on January 19, charging them with fraud and organized crime. In total, 42 individuals are implicated in the Supreme Cooperative case, with 14 named in the supplementary indictment.
He was earlier released after posting bail of Rs 6.5 million in Kaski and Rs 6 million in Kathmandu. After Butwal, he is yet to go to Chitwan and Parsa to give his statement in court. After arrest warrants were issued from those districts as well, he has already given his statement to the government attorney in both Chitwan and Parsa.
