Foreign Ministry proposes transfer of joint secretaries

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has initiated a fresh round of transfers and postings of joint secretaries. The Ministry has forwarded a proposal to the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, detailing both domestic and international transfers. According to the proposal, some officials currently serving abroad are being recalled for internal assignments, while others are being sent to overseas missions.

As per the latest information, Joint Secretary Paras Pandit, currently stationed in Geneva, has been proposed for transfer as the Consul General at the Jeddah Mission in Saudi Arabia. Similarly, Hari Odari, who is presently posted at the SAARC Secretariat, is slated to become the Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Gyan Bahadur Magar is being posted to the Permanent Mission of Nepal in New York, while Dadhi Bhandari and Laxman Khanal are heading to the United States. Bhandari is assigned to the Embassy of Nepal in Washington, D.C., and Khanal will serve as the Consul General at Nepal’s new consulate office in the U.S.

Meanwhile, Drupada Sapkota is being transferred from the Embassy in New Delhi to take over as Director General of the Consular Department in Kathmandu. Suresh Adhikari is also being posted to the United States. Surendra Yadav, who has been recalled from the Nepalese Embassy in Beijing, has been entrusted with overseeing the internal administration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
