Tomato-flavored soups are the most common, but here we have 5 other varieties of this luscious comfort dish to enjoy this winter season.

Laksa

This South-East Asian curry soup is rich and decadent with a well-balanced flavor. Served with a variety of sides including noodle shrimp and chips, this dish is a whole meal in its own right.

Pho

For non-vegetarians, Pho is a ‘must-have’ dish. This Vietnamese soup is known for its long cooking time, which takes up to 8 hours of preparing a broth with meat, onions and a bunch of warm spices. The result however, is totally worth the time.

French Onion Soup

Unlike other soups in the list, this French delicacy is known for its strong cheesy flavour. Its broth consists of caramelized onions and meat stock, which is baked with melty Gruyere cheese on top.

Rasam

This hot and spicy South Indian soup has a beautifully complex flavour profile, which has great scope of customization. If you prefer it sour, notch up the tamarind. If you prefer it spicier, add more red chillies. If you prefer it sweeter, don’t hesitate to add more jaggery. This soup can cover all spectrums of your taste buds, while keeping you warm and fuzzy.

Thukpa
